GlockWorld Magazine Editorial The gun safety dilemma is not only killing our children, but fellow officers,
loved ones and friends alike.
GlockWorld Magazine has dedicated this issue to the topic of gun safety,
more specifically, the use of trigger locks -- the debate and practice of chambering.
The problem of accidental discharge (AD) and resulting deaths and injuries
is, and has always been, solely, gun owner's responsibility. Since we are the
owners and users of these deadly weapons, the problem of gun safety is our problem
and ours alone and should not be that of the gun-grabbers.
It is not their children who are injured or killed by accidental discharge
in the home because they, reportedly, don’t possess firearms.
It is not they who are killed in the line of duty by an assailant with their
own weapon because most anti-gunners are not law enforcement officers nor real
defenders of the Constitution.
It is not they who must have safety locks on their guns then try and remember
the combination or find the key when a perpetrator invades their home. According
to them, they have no need for guns because they depend on local law enforcement
to defend their homes and their lives from perpetrators and crazed individuals
bent on unprovoked assaults.
When adrenaline is pumping high, it is not anti-gunners who must remember
if their firearm is loaded or empty for, again, they have no firearms and needn’t
worry themselves about self-defense.
But the truth of the matter is no matter how safe anti-gunners "may feel"
in their mentally-secured cocoons, they and their loved are more likely to run
the risk of being killed or injured by perpetrators because they have resigned
themselves to being victims rather than defenders.
If, indeed, the problems and decisions of firearms safety and defense does
rests squarely on the shoulders of gun owners, then why have we left it in the
hands of the dreaded enemy, Handgun Control, Inc. and the anti-Constitutionists?
Isn’t this the case of the lazy shepherd who entrusted his sheep to the conniving
coyote for safeguarding?
Like the old dog who is unable to learn, we too have become "stuck in our
old ways," unable to adapt for our own good.
Many of us have arrogantly and steadfastly held on to our antiquated theories
and principles of being for or against "chambering and trigger locks" based
upon our primary preferences for either personal defense or firearm safety.
Whether you’re a law enforcement officer or a private, law-abiding gun owner,
we all want to be able to protect and defend against the bad guy when the moment
arrives. But, instead of behaving like the brave and intelligent people that
we are, and directly facing the primary issue of how do we protect our children,
others and ourselves from accidental discharge, we "bury our heads in the sand,"
hoping the issue will disappear or, somehow, simply go away.
Some shooters think they don't have to worry about AD/UD's because their
gun could never malfunction and they're so well trained and conditioned
that such a thing like that couldn't happen to them -- BS! Remember, if something
can go wrong, it will! S... happens! Other, less conditioned shooters, just
wish the AD/UD problem would disappear without affecting them and those around
them. Watch your local TV news, read the local newspaper or check with the NRA
and GOA for the latest legislative bills regarding gun locks. This issue of
gun safety is not going to go away until WE, the shooters resolve it once and
for all ourselves!
You don’t have children? Well, so what?! Anti-gunners haven’t yet tried to
divide gun owners with or without children. "Divide and Conquer?" (say no more).
Either firearm preference: "Personal Defense or Firearm Safety" is inherently
risky and self-defeating when we choose one over the other.
All shooters need to unite and take a big bite out of the anti-gun movement
by solving the children and AD/UD safety dilemma ourselves.
To that end, GlockWorld is taking a bold and unusual step and recommending
the use of the Saf-T-Blok(tm)
trigger lock for duty, personal defense and home safety use. Saf-T-Blok
has a unique "behind the trigger lock" that totally prevents ADs while maximizing
your protection without compromising your safety.

(Reprint of 1997 Issue)

This small, trigger lock is the most effective in the world. It's the only one
that can be used on and off duty. It can protect your loved one's from AD/UD's
and could very well save your life. It is, presently, in use by federal and local
law enforcement agencies. Please read on.
THE GUN SAFETY DILEMMA IS OUR PROBLEM
"The single, most effective weapon anti-gunners have against the gun industry
is the lack of real gun safety for our children."
