Some “old school” shooter types believe that lights and lasers on pistols are faddish and gimmicky. Other people swear by them. Here are the facts. A light on your pistol allows you to identify your target

in low-light or no-light conditions, which, according to the FBI, account for the lighting conditions in 80% of shootings. Sure, night sights are useful to a large extent, but a gun-mounted light enables you to be SURE of your target before you shoot. In addition, almost all weapon mounted lights today have some type of momentary switch. This is useful because you don’t want to have the light on until a moment or two before you acquire the target. In tactical situations, you don’t want to announce your presence until you’re set up and ready to go. “Old school” aside, weapon mounted lights give you the upper hand in the dark uncertainty, and in life-and-death situations, you can’t afford to be uncertain.

Where lights allow you to acquire your target in low-light conditions, lasers enable you to see exactly where on that target your bullet is going to hit. Where lasers really shine, no pun intended, is when shooting from the hip, across the body, or even behind you while running. The advantage is that you don’t have to be looking down the sights to know that you’re on target. Wherever the laser dot is, that’s where you’re going to hit.

In addition to the accuracy factor of weapon mounted lasers, there is the intimidation factor to contend with. Imagine its 3am, and you hear someone messing around in your garage. You grab your cell phone and your pistol with the attached laser, and you carefully go to investigate the situation. When you open the door, there is a guy standing there, a jimmied lock behind him, your toolbox in his hands, and a black ski mask on his head. You bring up your pistol up and put the laser right on his chest. He sees the laser dot on him. Now, he’s not going to fight or argue. You call the police. Everyone knows lasers work, especially the criminals. The key is to go to the range once in a while, and make sure your laser is zeroed in. Lasers also enhance the shooting capabilities of those folks who don’t shoot much, and aren’t necessarily the best shot. With a laser, they don’t have to be. Point and pull. Just be sure of your target, as well as what’s beyond it.

LaserMax Internal Lasers

Sometimes, it is possible to improve upon a good thing. That is exactly the case with the Lasermax Internal Guiderod Laser. This laser sight has many things going for it that other laser sights do not… For one, it is completely internal, replacing the stock guiderod in your pistol, so there’s no external housing to snag, and the pistol and laser will fit perfectly into a regular holster, and yet still give you the advantage of a laser sight.
Secondly, the laser aligns right along the underside of the barrel, with no need for adjustment. The laser aligns totally parallel to the barrel for maximum accuracy.
